PRL Officer Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), a premier research institute based in Ahmedabad, has officially released its recruitment notification for various administrative officer positions. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications & Experience

• Administrative Officer: Candidates must hold an MBA in HR with a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience. Alternatively, individuals with a Post Graduate degree and 3 years of experience (including 1 year in a supervisory role) or Graduates with 5 years of experience (including 2 years in a supervisory role) in the field of Administration may apply.
• Accounts Officer: Requirements include professional qualifications such as ACA, FCA, AICWA, FICWA, or an MBA in Finance/Banking Public Systems Management alongside 1 year of supervisory experience. Candidates with an M.Com and 3 years of experience (1 year supervisory) or B.Com/BBA/BBM with 5 years of experience (2 years supervisory) in Finance and Accounts are also eligible.
• Purchase & Stores Officer: Applicants must have an MBA in Marketing or Materials Management with 1 year of supervisory experience. Alternatively, those holding a Graduation degree combined with a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management and 3 years of experience (1 year supervisory) or Post Graduates with 3 years of experience (1 year supervisory) or Graduates with 5 years of experience (2 years supervisory) in Purchase and Stores will be considered.

Important Note on Marks: For degrees other than MBA, ACA, FCA, FICWA, AICWA, or PG Diploma in Materials Management, a First Class with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.3 on a 10-point scale is mandatory. Supervisory experience should be equivalent to Level 6 of the Pay Matrix or above.

Age Limit (as of 24.08.2026)

• The maximum age limit for general category applicants is 35 years.
• Age relaxation up to 38 years is applicable for OBC candidates, and up to 40 years for SC candidates for reserved vacancies.
• Government employees, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-Servicemen are eligible for relaxation as per existing central government regulations.

Salary and Benefits

Selected officers will be placed in Level 10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500) with an initial basic pay of Rs. 56,100 per month. Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) or quarters, Transport Allowance, National Pension System (NPS) benefits, medical coverage, and LTC as per PRL rules.

Application Fee and Refund Policy

• The standard application fee is Rs. 250.
• However, all applicants must pay an initial sum of Rs. 750 during registration.
• General, EWS, and OBC candidates will receive a refund of Rs. 500 if they appear for the written exam.
• Reserved categories (SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen) and all Female applicants will receive a complete refund of Rs. 750 upon attending the written test.

Selection Methodology

The selection process comprises two stages:

1. Written Examination (60% Weightage): To be conducted in Ahmedabad. It includes objective sections testing general studies, quantitative aptitude, reasoning, and English grammar, alongside a post-specific specialized test. A descriptive test evaluating writing skills is also included.
2. Personal Interview (40% Weightage): Shortlisted candidates from the written exam will be invited for an interview in a 1:5 ratio.
