Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Overview
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced a recruitment drive for sportspersons under the Sports Quota for the year 2026-27. This recruitment, issued under Notification No. 04/2026, aims to fill 56 vacant posts in various pay levels (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3). Eligible Indian citizens who meet the sports standards can submit their applications online starting from July 25, 2026, until August 24, 2026.
Vacancy Details
A total of 56 vacancies are available, divided as follows:
- Level-2/3 (GP 1900/2000): 21 Posts
- Level-1 (GP 1800): 35 Posts
These vacancies cover various sports disciplines including Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Football, Golf, Kabaddi, and Power Lifting.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
- For Pay Level 2 and Level 3 posts: Candidates must have passed Class 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent from a recognized educational board or institution.
- For Pay Level 1 posts: Candidates must have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) or possess an ITI credential or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) approved by NCVT.
Age Limit (as of January 1, 2027)
- Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age.

Minimum Sports Achievement Norms
- Only performances in recognized events occurring on or after April 1, 2024, will be considered.
- Level 3/2: Must have represented the country in Category-B events, or secured up to 3rd position in Category-C events, Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships, National Games, or All India Inter-University Championships, or obtained 1st position in the Federation Cup (Senior).
- Level 1: Must have represented the country in Category-C events, or secured up to 3rd position in Federation Cup (Senior), or represented a state in Senior National Championships with at least 8th position (except for marathon/cross-country).

Note: A partial refund of the application fee is applicable for candidates who actually participate in the sports trials.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on a comprehensive evaluation totaling 100 marks:
- Sports Trial (Game Skill and Physical Fitness): 40 Marks (Minimum of 25 marks required to qualify as 'FIT')
- Evaluation of Sports Achievements: 50 Marks
- Educational Qualifications Evaluation: 10 Marks
Candidates must score at least 65 marks overall for Level-2/3 posts, and a minimum of 60 marks for Level-1 posts to be considered for selection.
Pay Scale / Salary
Selected candidates will receive salaries as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix for Pay Level-1, Level-2, and Level-3. Please refer to the official notification for detailed allowances and in-hand salary figures.
